Set an open password on a PDF (encrypt), or remove a password you already know (decrypt). While encrypting you can also forbid printing, copying text and editing - useful for contracts, quotes and CVs that should stay protected.
Passwords participate only in local computation and there is no upload endpoint, so neither passwords nor files leak. Keep your password safe - a forgotten one cannot be recovered.
How to use it

- Encrypt: enter an open password, optionally an owner password and restrictions. Decrypt: enter the current password.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I recover a forgotten password?
- No. The password is only used on your device - we do not store it and cannot restore it. Keep it safe or save an unencrypted copy.
- How long can the password be, and what can I restrict?
- There is no length limit; a longer, complex password is more secure. You can forbid printing, copying text and editing.
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything runs in your browser and there is no upload endpoint, so the server never sees your content.
- How large a file can I use?
- Stay under about 100 MB and a few thousand pages. Speed and memory depend on your own device.
- Is it free? Do I need an account?
- It is completely free with no usage limit, and no sign-up or login is required.
- Does it work on phones?
- Yes, the layout is responsive. Large files and complex edits are easier on a desktop.
- Which browsers are supported?
- Any modern browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and their mobile versions.
- Does it work with scanned PDFs?
- Yes for page-level operations, which do not need a text layer. There is no OCR, so text cannot be pulled out of a scan.
