OmniNotation is a Chrome extension for highlighting, annotating, sticky notes, bookmarks and multi-engine search — in Chrome's native Side Panel, with all data stored locally by default.

4 Highlight Styles
Highlight, underline, strikethrough and squiggly — each annotation gets its own color, auto-deepened in dark mode.
Native Side Panel
Chrome's official Side Panel lists all annotations of the page, with full Markdown and LaTeX (KaTeX) rendering and threaded replies.
Persistent Anchoring
Selections are anchored by text quote, so highlights survive page reloads. SPA navigation is detected and re-rendered automatically.
Two-way Navigation
Click a highlight to open the side panel and jump to its annotation; click a card to scroll back to the highlight on the page.
Sticky Notes
Place sticky notes anywhere on the page — no text selection required.
Selection Toolbar
Select text to pop up a floating toolbar: annotate, copy, or search — annotation tools and search engines laid out on two rows.
Multi-engine Search
Search your selection across general and academic engines out of the box. Add, edit or remove engines freely — emoji and characters work as icons.
Bookmarks & Organization
Annotated pages are bookmarked automatically. Organize with nested folders, tags, page categories and global search.
Markdown Import / Export
Back up and restore everything as readable, version-control-friendly Markdown files.
Axiom Hub Sharing (optional)
Optionally sign in to Axiom Hub to share annotations and follow others'. Off by default — your data never leaves the device unless you choose to.
Install
Developer Mode (from source)
Clone the GitHub repo, run npm install && npm run build, then load the build/chrome-mv3-prod folder via chrome://extensions with Developer mode on.

Annotations and bookmarks are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). OmniNotation contains no telemetry, analytics or advertising SDK. It only talks to a server when you explicitly sign in to Axiom Hub or click Share.
